I have always been fascinated with the relationship between transportation and sustainability. We are so spoiled when it comes to cars, but as a society we still seem to have an issue with just how many cars there are on the road. We don’t seem to think about the other sources of transportation and what they can do for us.
I think that car culture is a major contributor to the ever-increasing congestion, pollution, and traffic of our cities. What’s even more surprising is just how many people are now taking to the idea of walking.
We have to move more to get more done, but it is also a lot easier to get around with a car. If youre not taking to the idea of walking, there is a lot of stuff that you can do without a car, and for a lot less money. For example, the bus system is not only cheaper to maintain and operate, but you can also get to a variety of destinations without even leaving your house.
I think it goes back to the fact that the majority of trips you take in your life are either short or long. You can do a lot with less, but you’ll always want to travel as much as you can. Now you can even take your car to a new destination, but you can only take a bus to get there if it is in the same city or town.
This one is a bit of a conundrum to me. I believe that most people have some sort of car-related problem. So maybe the bus is a bit like a car for them. It is not, however, a substitute for a car. Many people may have a car because they need to get to work, but they don’t want to drive to work or drive to get to their destination.
I think the bus is a great idea. It is the only transit option that is available in most major cities and towns. You can usually just walk to the bus stop. And the bus is probably cheaper than the car, too.
We tried a bus here in Chicago several years ago. And we were soooooo disappointed in the service the bus offered that we never went back. Also, the bus was so crowded that there were long lines to get off. I think the bus is great, but it’s definitely not what I would want for long-term planning. We could probably have gotten a car on the bus.
However, not everyone who needs a car would. In fact, the bus is probably a great option for those who want to get off the grid, but don’t want to leave their city where they are, and the car is a great option for people who have to travel a lot to get to a job or visit family.
For those who would be leaving a city where they are, I think it’s fantastic. I was really excited about it when we talked about it, but now I’m afraid it won’t be enough to satisfy our needs. I’m sure it’ll be great for a trip to the mountains to get away from the city, but I think it’s just too much for everyone else.
The problem is that when I read “harbor transit” I think of the kind of place where you would be forced to wait in line all day for things that are not free (you know, the kind of place you would have to pay for).
