la berga

I first heard this term, la berga, in a book about the food industry. This is a type of pasta that has a very thin base with a long, thin cylindrical shape that is usually cooked al dente, or extremely chewy, when it is served. It makes for an excellent meal to help satisfy a hunger, especially in the summer.

la berga is a pretty strong point of connection between food and social interaction, because it has a very strong relationship to a social context. In a country where food production is heavily dependent on public and private food production, the food industry is a powerful social force.
