“Nihilistic movies” are “all the movies I’ve seen that do nothing.” I hate this word. I mean, it is true. I have seen a lot of movies that have nihilistic sentiments in them. Some of these movies are just bad. Some of these movies are just good. But the majority of these are just bad. In fact, I wouldn’t say that most of them are even good.
The biggest thing that nihilistic movies have is that they create the illusion of a perfect being. Like, the only thing that makes them real is a perfect person. This is part of why the horror genre has gone extinct, and why those of us who like to take the time to look at the movies often get it wrong sometimes. But you can’t just look at the movies you like and see that it’s the same with nihilistic movies.
A lot of people get it wrong, even when they like certain movies. I know I get it wrong. I got it wrong with Pulp Fiction because I didnt like the way the movie ended. I also got it wrong with The Silence of the Lambs, which has a lot of great scenes and an interesting ending, but I didnt like the ending that killed off one of the main characters.
But the best movie ever (and I think everyone should try and see it) is The Twilight Zone. When the movie starts you know where you are going. And when it ends you KNOW you are going to go somewhere else. We are so used to the idea of a “time loop” that when the movie ends we feel like we are on a loop. We are on autopilot.
It’s like a movie, but with people. In the Twilight Zone, you have to do something to break the loop. This movie doesn’t end with the viewer ending up in a place you are not supposed to be. Instead, the viewer is thrust into a future you never imagined they could get into, and the one thing the movie makers wanted to avoid was the idea that the viewer would have to go back and do something to break the loop.
I can’t help but think of the recent movie on the moon, with its characters being the Moon, Moon, and Moon. This movie was an early inspiration for the movie that turned out to be a time loop. I was so excited to see the moon/moon movie, I have to say, I am in awe. But I was also incredibly excited when The Moon Knight came along and told me to keep on with the film.
I guess we have to call it a time loop movie because a lot of the action happens while the characters are on Deathloop. But it’s still another kind of movie because the characters are on the other side of time.
The Moon Knight is one of those movies that is like a time loop movie in that it starts off on a note of hope and optimism, but then the story takes a dark and tragic turn. It is the story of a man who is trying to save his daughter from a world that is nothing but evil, and then he realizes he is not going to be able to save her as the world itself is falling into the abyss.
It’s a very dark film, and it is very bleak and depressing. But you can’t help but be pulled into it because it is so damn nihilistic. There’s a sense that the movie is not saying that everything is bad. It’s saying that everything is not okay, and that the universe is a place that is in fact not real. It’s a very dark movie and you won’t find much that is hopeful or optimistic in it either.
This film has that same element to it. You start out with the idea that everything is not okay, but by the end of the movie you don’t see it that way. The nihilistic element is very important to the movie because it is so bleak and depressing, yet you cant help but feel the weightlessness of it all.
