A few years ago I was in the book store and saw a book called The Three Levels of Self-Awareness. I was immediately intrigued. It was about how everything that we think we know is only the surface of what we think we know. I’ve always wondered about the “surface” of a lot of our thoughts, as in how far we’ve come.
The book goes on to talk about the concept of three levels of self-awareness, and how we can each go to different areas of our lives and realize the other layers of our identity. Some people can go to the surface and see how they are, like having a full understanding of who they are. Some people have a sense of who they are deeper, and can see what someone else is doing to them. The first level of self-awareness is the most important.
Priya Misra, author of The New Science of Self-Awareness, calls this “self-affirming self-awareness.” She explains that when you know who you are, you can more easily acknowledge the other parts of yourself, like the parts of you that are still a part of you, but are being pulled in new directions.
This is what Priya has been talking about all along, but I also see this a lot in my yoga practice. When I know who I am, I can more easily recognize my own body’s limitations and what I can do with it. I don’t know if Priya has figured it out yet, but I suspect she has.
This is also why I feel the need to practice self-affirmation so often. Because as I know myself better, I can more easily recognize my own limitations (which I know are often pretty self-limiting) and what I can do with them. And in the same way that I know my limitations are probably more self-limiting than I think, I also know that I can do more with them than I think I can.
So there you go. That is all you need to know to know that Priya has figured out that she is not that cool. She’s a shy, slightly sad person who likes to do a lot of things that most people think of as bad.

So Priya is, in fact, a bad person with a bad hair day. In a way, it all fits into a pattern of things you’ll see throughout the trailer. It’s a sad person who has a sad hair day. But it’s just an odd day, not a bad day. It’s just a sad day where everything is bad. It’s just an odd day. Something that is, in fact, a bad day, but it’s just an odd day.
It is. Priya has just started a job at a hospital and suddenly finds herself in a position in which she is required to do things that most people wouldn’t do, like, drink, and engage in sexual activity. But Priya, unlike most of us, is actually one of the people who thinks it is a good thing.
One thing that Priya has is the ability to think, and to feel emotions. She is obviously very passionate about her job and about all the patients she deals with, but she also is able to pick up on the subtle, but incredibly important, things about them that are a little bit creepy. For example, she notices that there is a little girl who is not supposed to be there: she has been removed from the building and is being hidden in the back of the building.
