The Wikipedia article on Ryan Gainey is a great introduction to the world of psychology and the man who coined the term “The Self-Awareness Hypothesis”. Gainey was an award-winning psychologist and pioneer in the field of the psychology of consciousness.
In 2012 he published a paper arguing that the human brain isn’t as efficient at identifying self-awareness as we’d like to think it is. In the paper Gainey called his hypothesis the Self-Awareness Hypothesis, and it’s what I think was behind the idea of “self-awareness.
I’m not a big believer in the entire “mind is a computer” theory, but it is interesting that Gainey was the first to argue that our conscious thoughts and actions and not our subconscious. We tend to think that our subconscious is all about programming, but I’ve always believed that if you can program your subconscious, then you can program your computer.
I think it is about time we had the big guns of the self-awareness movement in the media spotlight. Now, we all know that the idea of self-awareness is the idea of self-awareness that we can program. It’s always been the idea of self-awareness that has been in the media that has kept us hooked on reality TV.
The big guns are the blogs, websites, and books that teach us to think about ourselves. And that is exactly what we need right now. We all need to stop being so self-absorbed and self-conscious about the way we think about ourselves. We all need to stop saying things to ourselves that are either untrue or at least not true. You can’t be a self-aware person if you are a self-absorbed, self-conscious person.
Ryan Gainey is the most famous “self-aware” person in the world and is one of our favorite people in the history of the internet. He writes a blog called ryangainey.com and blogs on Twitter under the name Ryan Gainey (aka www.ryangainey.com). His blog is full of great life tips and advice, and his tweets are just as entertaining as his blog, if not more so.
In his own words, ryan is “a very funny person.” He blogs regularly, but it’s worth checking out his Twitter as well.
Well, he does a bit of self-awareness. But he doesn’t really think about it. He has a tendency to keep running in the face of his fears about the future and the world, but in his own mind he keeps running into walls and monsters and things that go bump in the night. There’s a bit of a comic book element to his writing as well.
